December 16, 2021:
In January 2020 I purchased tickets for our family to see Jim Gaffigan, Ed’s favorite comedian. Then the world shut down so of course the show was put on hold. In April 2020 as I was putting together a big surprise birthday tribute video for Ed, I decided to email Jim’s media contact to see if he’d send in a personal message to Ed for me to include in the tribute video… it felt like a long shot, so you can imagine my surprise when I received an email saying “Jim Gaffigan sent you a video” - so exciting! The birthday tribute video ended up being 2.5 hours long, jam packed with loving and hilarious messages from friends, family, and a few surprise guests including Jim Gaffigan and Ed was blown away by it all. It was so special. Well last night was the rescheduled comedy show and though bittersweet with an empty seat next to us, the boys and I laughed and laughed and had a nice night out, just as Ed would’ve wanted. We miss him immensely but will continue to laugh and experience all the joy we can.
